The Addo Old Age Home is now officially in the process of turning into a Multi-purpose Centre. They will be open during the day to elderly people from the community old age home, continue to feed under privileged children from surrounding primary schools every school day and welcomes people with disabilities and people living with HIV Aids.
So far we try to visit them on a bi-monthly basis to help out with, conservation work, like vegetable gardens, do bead work or material painting. We recently received donated reading books and decided to start a small library at the Centre.
We also did some bead work and even the ’manly men’ put their ego’s aside for the day to make bracelets. The money made from bead work sold gets pumped back into the system to purchase daily necessities such as tea, sugar, toilet paper and blankets.
The primary school who do their traditional dancing practice at the Centre performed for us again. The volunteers made some very creative noise makers, rattle sticks and outfits from bottle caps, old wire, onion bags and cool drink cans during the week which we gave to them to add to their performance.
