Nambiti Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal

Welcome to the Women and Girls Empowerment Programme Group webpage.

Thank you for booking, this trip will be immense!

We currently have 6  wonderful, kind, caring and fun individuals to help with the annual Wild Connection’s Women and Girls Empowerment Camp.

30+ local Zulu women and girls will be attending to the Wild Connection (WC) rural bush camp for the weekend of 22nd-24th August to experience the African bush from a different perspective and to be empowered by field staff and local business women. Many rural women and girls experience limited education, poor healthcare and extreme poverty which sadly often comes with gender based violence, rape and crime.

This camp was established to give local women and girls the opportunity to experience life in the bush from a ‘tourist’ perspective where they get to see wild animals on the reserve, have some self-care and enjoy things they would never normally be able to.

You will be based at the camp and will be able to experience some elements of the programme Gap & WC offer (‘KwaZulu-Natal Conservation and Research Programme’), either side of the camp. It will be great and most definitely immersive into the Zulu culture.

You are guaranteed a weekend full of life, laughter and the constant sound of Zulu signing and dancing!

A true joy to be had!

I would like us to all get to know each other before we go on the trip so we are all ‘best of pals’ when the ladies arrive :). Please can you all send me a 100 w max bio (Tegan has to send 200) and a nice piccie so I can add it to the page.

Please introduce yourself, give us a quirky thing about yourself & tell us what you are most excited about at the empowerment camp!

Lou - Mrs B!

Hi, I may as well kick it off.

I am Lou, 46 yr old living my youth once more. I love reggae, culture & learning about new people so don’t be surprised if I ask you 100’s of questions. I was born to live for Africa and after visiting East & South Africa 16 times, and north Africa (inc. Cape Verde) 4 times. I married the Preston Karl Pilkington hence why he isn’t with us!

I am really excited about the EC as I love organising donations and love giving. I buzz off generosity and kindness. I will be at camp 21-25th Aug but in SA from the 15th. I cannot wait to listen to the ladies sing and dance! x

Empowerment donations!

Are you good at fundraising?

The camp is fully funded by Wild Connection (WC), Gap Africa Projects and local sponsors so we would really like to help with this.

This year, all the women and girls who attend are being fully funded by Gap Africa Projects at a cost of R1,000 (£49 equiv.) per lady.

Donations are still needed!

Without these vital contributions, the camp would not run and these wonderful, harmonious and fun-living young ladies would not be able to have this time.

If you are good at fundraising or gathering donations, then please see the list opposite.
