Our Travel Partners

To ensure that we provide you with a first class service, we have carefully and strategically picked travel partners who are industry leaders in their field. This not only allows us to offer an excellent service with our volunteering holidays, but also gives you the assurance and peace of mind you deserve whilst travelling.

Gap Africa Projects are proud to be an ATOL (Air Travel Organisers Licence) bonded company. This means that in the unlikely event where we had to cease trading, you the customer will not lose money or be stranded abroad. The scheme is designed to reassure consumers that their money is safe, and provides assistance in the event of a travel company failure.

South African Airways is our preferred carrier into South and Southern Africa. SAA has been consistently enhancing its services in the African continent, maintaining its status as the leading carrier and most awarded African airline.

Our travellers come from all over the world, using Johannesburg as a popular connection point to the rest of Africa. SAA’s fast, efficient connection across Africa enables them to open up opportunities for groups and individuals seeking knowledge, experience and adventure.

Travel Counsellors

Travel Counsellors is a truly dynamic and global adventure travel company with 1,200 Travel Counsellors, each with an average of 20 years’ experience. Customers benefit from having their own personal Travel Counsellor who will get to know them personally, providing them with the highest possible levels of personal service and taking care of all travel requirements, down to the last detail. Now a large, international company, Travel Counsellors are still a family business at heart, with an ethos of friendship, camaraderie, caring and support at its core. It’s this family ethos that has made them so successful, and drives the care and attention they offer to customers.

“In the pursuit for excellence, our insistence on high standards and our emotional attachment to our customers, we have developed a loyal public following like no other. Every day we go the extra mile to take care of our customers’ leisure and business travel arrangements, down to the last detail. Essential to this is our standing as travel industry leaders in Customer Financial Protection. We take great care in trying to avoid many of the less financially robust companies that operate in the industry. In addition, we protect every penny of our customers’ money in the form of a Trust. As both agents and operators we offer the very best and most comprehensive financial protection in the industry, which means Travel Counsellors’ customers can be safe in the knowledge that their money is completely protected. We believe strongly that this is not a privilege, but a customer’s basic right.”

Endsleigh Travel Insurance

Gap Africa Projects is working in partnership with Endsleigh to offer our travellers a policy which has been specifically designed to meet their requirements whilst on any of our gap year programs. We believe that safety and enjoyment are equally important when travelling with Gap Africa Projects. It is for this reason that we ask that you have adequate travel insurance in place before you travel with us.

The policies we have chosen to provide to our travellers through Endsleigh include the following benefits:

  • Cancellation or curtailment charges
  • Personal accident
  • Emergency medical expenses
  • Overseas legal expenses
  • Personal money, passport and documents
  • Baggage cover
  • Personal liability
  • Search & rescue (available on comprehensive policy)
  • Over 100 sports and activities covered as standard
  • Winter sports activity cover available

This is only a summary, you can read the full policy document here.

We recommend you take out your travel insurance at the time of booking your trip as you will then have cover for a pre-departure cancellation should you become unable to travel for an insured reason.
