Marine Conservation

Conservation in Africa reaches beyond the plains and into the water of the surrounding oceans. Whales, dolphins and sharks all live in the oceans around this great continent. Our projects give you the chance to work with animals alongside expert researchers and conservationists to protect and monitor the lives of these amazing creatures.

If you’re a keen diver, or care passionately about marine life, this project is for you. We want marine conservation volunteers to join two leading projects in South Africa offering a diverse range of activities and research projects. There are plenty of opportunities for diving, with research teams frequently located off the coast and in local river systems to collect important data and research. This research often involves diving with, tagging and monitoring whales and dolphins, or cage diving with Great White sharks!

We’re proud to be volunteering with some of the leading researchers in the field, and to be involved with such important work. For more information about how you can be a part of the on-going conservation, check out the projects below.

Volunteer with Great White Sharks

The Great White Shark Project is dedicated to the exploration and conservation of the world’s greatest predator, the Great White Shark, and its environment. The project works with students, eco-tourists, conservation organizations and marine resource users (subsistence fishermen, sport divers and dive operators) to gather data on Great White Sharks, correct negative misconceptions about sharks, and stop the needless slaughter of over 100 million sharks annually.
